Bring Back the Jets Hockey Game
Game | 12pm - 1pm | Historic Port & Post-game Celebration | 1pm - 3pm | Muddy Waters
Former Winnipeg Jets players and members of the media will face-off for some good, old-fashioned, shinny hockey at The Forks.
To capture the full 100-year-old hockey effect, the boys will be playing with: no forward pass, with seven players on each team, and no goalies going down. Voice of the Jets, Curt Kielback, will call the shots from the sidelines.
The World Hockey Association (WHA) Avco Cup, which the Jets won in their last year with the WHA, will be on display at the Historic Port. It will move to the post-game festivities, celebrating Gordie Tumilson’s project, “Remembering the Jets”.
Hockey-savvy media interested in participating can contact Kerry LeBlanc to register and meet at the train (warming hut) at the Historic Port at 11:30am to suit up.
