In total, 10,969 artifacts were recovered during monitoring of construction. Precontact recoveries include lithics, ceramics, and faunal and floral remains. Radiocarbon samples were dated, indicating Late Woodland and Blackduck occupations. Postcontact recoveries include artifacts in the following categories: architectural objects; lighting equipment; science; medicine; communication; food processing; clothing; transportation; recreation; housewares; containers; detritus; and faunal and floral remains. Stratigraphy is discussed in detail. Interpretation discusses the following periods: Precontact (4000 BC-AD 1737); Contact and Transition (1737-1870); Industrial and Immigration (1870-1888); and Railway (1888-1988). Appendices include locational data, artifact category hierarchy, photographic plates, and an artifact catalogue (issued as separate volume). *
