The Forks is inviting visitors young and old to come for a playdate this summer. Play at The Forks is a new initiative aimed at testing active elements in the CN Stage and Field area. This year’s free activations include basketball, soccer, table tennis, and a painted playground.
“We are always looking for new and interesting ways for people to enjoy The Forks. Testing play elements at CN Stage and Field throughout the summer will help us build future programming and amenities for this space based on public feedback,” says Sara Stasiuk, Chief Executive Officer, The Forks North Portage.
Visitors can look for the bright polka dots near CN Stage and Field to find all four of this year’s elements: basketball under CN Stage, soccer in CN Field, Table Tennis on top of the berm in the field and a painted playground along the east path next to the field.
Best of all, all elements are free to use. Even the equipment.
Soccer balls, table tennis paddles and balls and basketballs are available to sign out with a piece of ID from Bee2gether Bikes, located at the north-west corner of The Forks Market.
Everyone who plays and fills out a short survey that will help us keep building this program will be entered to win a $100 Forks gift card. QR codes for the survey are on signs at each play station.
Play at The Forks will run throughout the summer until the weather starts to cool in the fall. All elements are open to the public for pick up games only and not intended for league play. Some public programming is planned. Check The Forks event calendar for details.
Note: if the CN Stage and Field is booked for a large event, play elements will be stored and returned to the area once the event is complete.
