The Forks: A self-guided audio tour

Grab your headphones, download the audio tour file, and head outside to the Canopy to begin an immersive journey, narrated by the engaging and knowledgeable Niigaan Sinclair, Curator of Indigenous History at The Forks and Professor of Native Studies at the University of Manitoba.

Along the way you’ll hear from elders Barbara and Clarence Nepinak about the significance of where the Red and Assiniboine Rivers meet; learn about the design, construction, and importance of the Oodena Celebration Circle with Landscape Architects Glen Manning and Constantina Douvris; gain insight on the redevelopment of the abandoned rail yard, now the present day site of The Forks with Architect Étienne J. Gaboury; discover where artifacts have been uncovered with Curator of Archaeology at the Manitoba Museum, Kevin Brownlee; and listen to musician Matt Schellenberg talk tunes from the CN Stage.

Approximate duration: one hour. Pause the audio during your walk to explore further and engage with points of interest. The Forks site encompasses over 6,000 years of history, so stay a little while extra to take in the full experience.
