Spring School Series – Indigenous Walking Tour at The Forks
Turtle Tours is now booking our Spring School Series, offering Indigenous-led walking tours designed for students to experience Manitoba’s history in the place where it happened.
Located at The Forks in Winnipeg — where the Red and Assiniboine Rivers meet — this guided experience brings students onto the land to learn through storytelling, place, and interactive discussion. Students walk the same ground where thousands of years of meeting, movement, and history have taken place.
Led by Indigenous guides, the tour provides a clear understanding of Treaty history, the role of The Forks as a historic gathering and trade site, and the ongoing presence of Indigenous Peoples today. The experience is designed to make history understandable, relevant, and accessible for students.
What Students Experience:
- Indigenous-led storytelling rooted in place
- Teachings on land, treaties, and early trade systems
- Interactive discussion that encourages engagement
- Learning beyond the classroom
What Students Take Away:
- Understanding of Indigenous history and treaties
- Connection to land and place
- Confidence to ask questions and engage in discussion
- A meaningful, memorable learning experience
This program is designed for Grades 4–12, and is also well suited for educators, university groups, and student organizations. It connects directly to curriculum areas including Social Studies, Indigenous Studies, Geography, Civics, Economics, and Oral History.
Experience Details:
- Location: The Forks, Winnipeg
- Duration: Approximately 60 minutes
- Group Size: Up to 30 students per booking
- Availability: April, May, and June
Spring School Rate:
$455 + fees per class (up to 30 students)
Spring dates are limited and fill quickly. Schools are encouraged to book early to secure preferred dates.

Bloom into Spring: Slow Flow Yoga
Bask in the vibrant energy of spring with a transformative slow flow yoga practice with instructor Adrienne Shum. Expect fluid movements designed to support grounding and opening, with soft, deliberate transitions that link body and breath.
No previous yoga experience is required; please bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and wear clothing you are comfortable moving in. Spring is here; let’s bloom!

Dig Deep, Grow Roots: Gentle Yoga & Breathwork
Enjoy a restorative yoga practice with instructor Adrienne Shum. Designed to gently create space in the body and soothe the nervous system, the practice will finish with guided breathwork intended to leave you calm and settled.
No previous yoga experience is required; please bring a yoga mat, water bottle, and wear clothing you are comfortable moving in. Seasonal transitions are a wonderful time to reset; let's root to restore.

As part of their Explore-Abilities Access Program, join the Manitoba Children's Museum for one of its Explore-Abilities Evenings; a sensory-friendly museum experience designed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and sensory processing differences to have fun and enjoy interactive, hands-on learning in a safe and accessible facility!

Fixing Fashion Show
Join The Forks for its first-ever Fixing Fashion Show, proudly sponsored by Reclothify! Sixteen local designers will showcase their creativity, each reimagining textiles into unique, fashion-forward pieces.
Doors open at 7:00 PM, and the runway kicks off shortly after. DJ Marcothatsall will be spinning tracks an hour before and after the show.

Pruning in the Orchard
Get your shears out for a hands-on pruning session where you’ll learn practical tips and techniques to help trees stay healthy and thrive. Sustainability Coordinator, Helga Jakobson, will walk you through the methods we use at The Forks, from shaping young growth to maintaining mature trees. Participants are asked to dress comfortably and bring their own shears.
