In these chapters, The Forks Public Archaeology Project (1989-1992) is introduced, particularly the planning and scope for the 1992 component. The historical background of the site is presented in periods of: First Inhabitants (8000 BC-AD 1737), Contact (1737-1821), Transition (1821-1870), Industrialization and Immigration (1870-1888), and Railway (1888-1988). Project operations are detailed in terms of location, set-up, methodology abd procedures, participant orientation, visitor services, noteworthy occurrences, site closure, and post-season activites.
