Archaeological Assessment of the Bonnycastle Park Amphitheatre Locality

Assessment and monitoring of construction at the amphitheatre locality turned up artifacts from the Recent Period (post-1920) that were observed to be the result of landfill activities. None of the artifacts were curated.

Located at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, The Forks (also known as Nestawaya in Cree) has been a meeting place for over 6,000 years – located on the original lands of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota and Lakota peoples and resides in the homeland of the Red River Métis.
