Charcoal and Seed Analysis, A 3000 Year Old Native Campsite and Trade Centre at The Forks

Shay, C. Thomas and D. M. Deck

This chapter presents analysis of seeds and charcoal recovered during the 1992 excavations. Deposition and preservation of the specimens are discussed, and the methodology of floatation, and soil, seed, and charcoal analysis are presented, along with the results for each specimen category. The findings are compared with other locations at The Forks, and recommendations are made for future recovery and analysis of plant remains.
