"La rivyar kii-pimichiwan" by Jan Castillo and Nadya Crossman-Serb

This installation, located in the north aisle of The Forks Market, is a collaboration between local artists Nadya Crossman-Serb and Jan Castillo.

Nadya's beadwork, located at the far west end of the aisle's main floor, takes inspiration from traditional Métis beadwork, and translates the imagery into a painted mural depicting flora found across Treaty 1 territory. The beadwork is also reflected in the kites, created by Jan Castillo. These kites cover the bay windows in the north aisle, just above the beadwork. The kites demonstrate a togetherness of community building, while the pieces together, tell a story of camaraderie, whimsicalness, and discovery.

Year: 2024
