National Day for Awareness of MMIWG2S
We stand together to honor and remember the MMIWG2S+ individuals and their families. Their lives matter, their stories deserve to be told, and their justice demands our action. A number of events will be hosted by local organizations at The Forks today, in honor of MMIWG2S+ people and their loved ones. All are welcome to participate.
Red Dress Day
Oodena Celebration Circle | 10am-2:30pm
The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs will be hosting an event for families affected by MMIWG2S+ to gather as a community and stand together in solidarity and support of one another. Chiefs, Elders, Survivors, and families will be in attendance to share words of strength and love.
Painting Signs of Hope
CN Stage and Field | 2:30-4:30pm
Join VIDEA and Pitikwe Skatepark for an afternoon honoring lost loved ones, while supporting each other as a community. A Ceremony with Elder Charlotte will start the programming, followed by painting Signs of Hope, and the hanging a red dress in honor of MMIWG2S+.
