Archaeological Monitoring of the Construction of The Forks Heritage Plaza

Monitoring consisted of visual inspection of excavated soils from construction components. No Precontact evidence was recovered, and that of Fur Trade activities is limited to sub-surface soil horizons relating to horticultural practices. A total of 66 artifacts from the Historic/Railroad horizon represent the following artifact categories: architectural objects; lighting equipment; ceramic and glass storage, cooking, and dinnerware containers; and faunal remains. Stratigraphy is discussed. Appendices include an artifact catalogue.
