In 2025, the Board of Directors of The Forks North Portage Partnership adopted The Forks' Reconciliation Strategy. This strategy was developed by Ashley Richard and Jamie Wilson over the course of a year, who led extensive consultations with indigenous elders, community members and many others who graciously provided insights and knowledge that helped form the plan's recommendations.

The implementation of The Forks' Reconciliation Strategy is an evergreen journey. One that will ensure that the shared priorities of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples are heard, valued, and represented.

The Reconciliation Strategy is informed by the principles of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights for Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP), The Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Calls for Justice and the National Indigenous Economic Strategy For Canada Calls to Economic Prosperity.

The Forks' Reconciliation Strategy is organized around three strategic pillars:

  1. Governance and Leadership
  2. Procurement and People
  3. Visibility and Engagement
