Changing Views, Changing Values: Riverfronts in Winnipeg and Minneapolis, The Forks and the Battle of Seven Oaks in Manitoba History

Cartlidge, Thora

This article discusses two modern uses of The Forks, from the developer’s and educator’s point of view. The author compares The Forks to St. Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River in Minneapolis. These two places are similar, in that they were developed in the late 19th century and are considered gateways. St. Anthony Falls has an interpretive system, and also compliments commercial and recreational goals. There are photographs of Minneapolis.
