This paper looks at the integration of the French, the Hudson’s Bay Company, the Northwest Company, the Aboriginal culture and the First Nations. The Pemmican Wars are discussed (along with La Grenouillère), with an analysis of the Métis’ fighting methods. These methods were a combination of French European and First Nations ways of dealing with conflict. The article also mentions the mixing of Métis and French language to make Mitchif.
