Turtle Tours
Turtle Tours is a First Nation-owned, Indigenous-led tourism company based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They offer guided tours and experiences that give travellers, teams, locals, students, and groups the clarity and confidence to understand Indigenous history and presence today.
Led by Indigenous guides, our experiences are rooted in place, story, and lived knowledge, providing context and understanding so people can move forward with greater awareness and respect.
Turtle Tours operates at The Forks in Winnipeg, one of the oldest gathering places in North America where the Red and Assiniboine Rivers meet. Through a 45-minute guided walking tour and extended experiences, guests are introduced to the Indigenous foundations of this place while learning directly on the land.
Participants gain a clear understanding of Treaty history and its meaning today, the role of The Forks as a historic meeting, trade, and travel hub, Indigenous presence in Winnipeg past and present, early trade systems and movement across the land, and stories often left out of mainstream narratives.
These experiences connect history to the present in a direct and accessible way, helping make conversations easier and more informed. Guests leave with a grounded and confident understanding of the place they are in.
Turtle Tours offers experiences for a range of audiences. Travellers and locals gain a deeper understanding of Manitoba and the land they are visiting or call home. Schools and students benefit from curriculum-connected programming that supports learning about Indigenous history, land, and people across generations. Corporations, teams, and organizations gain the clarity and confidence needed to engage in Indigenous relations thoughtfully and respectfully. Groups and private bookings are available for all ages, with flexible options tailored to specific needs and goals.
Experiences include a 45-minute Indigenous-guided walking tour at The Forks focused on Treaty, land, and history, as well as seasonal walking tours that reflect how stories and ways of living shift throughout the year. Additional offerings include the Taste of Survival experience, which introduces Indigenous food systems through hands-on learning, along with day tours and custom experiences designed for deeper engagement. Seasonal experiences also include the Ice Fishing Village at FortWhyte Alive, a beginner-friendly winter experience in heated hot tents with pre-drilled fishing holes, suitable for families, school groups, and organizations.
Beyond Winnipeg, Turtle Tours extends into Riding Mountain National Park through Turtle Village, offering off-grid stays and seasonal cultural experiences rooted in land-based living.
Turtle Tours is built on lived experience, family history, and a responsibility to share Indigenous stories in a way that is true, respectful, and led by Indigenous voices.
