Film Screening of That Never Happened

To honour Remembrance Day

Discover the stories of thousands of men, women, and children interned by the Canadian government during the First World War.

Between 1914 and 1920, the Canadian government targeted thousands of people it had deemed “enemy aliens.” Families were separated as people were sent to forced labour and internment camps. Long hidden from public view, the stories of those who had been imprisoned did not come to light until the 1980s due to the efforts of a few dedicated men and women.

That Never Happened is a documentary produced by Armistice Films that chronicles the experiences of internees and the legacy of Canada’s internment programs.

Director Ryan Boyko and producer Diana Cofini will be on site to share some of their reflections before the screening. A question and answer period will follow the film.

Running time of the film is 78 minutes.

November 11 | 1:00 to 4:00pm

Location: Canadian Museum for Human Rights
