Birch Box | Bundle Dyeing Workshop
Join textile artist Tamara Klassen for a workshop on natural dyeing.
You will create a bundle dyed silk scarf with natural materials by imprinting the colors and shapes of leaves and petals directly on to the fabric. While we wait for the scarves to steam, we'll discuss natural dyes and what plants and food waste work well for dyeing (and what doesn't). We will make a few dye pots to dye wool with local plants and flowers and then use it to create colorful tassel or pompom keychains.
You will go home with:
A bundle-dyed silk scarf
A naturally dyed tassel or pompom keychain
Skills and knowledge on natural dyeing
Tickets: $80 available at https://birchboxprojects.org/workshops/bundle-dyeing
This year, we are donating the majority profits of this to IRCOM (Immigrant Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba) to enable them to bring music into their childcare program.
