Five days of culture for all - including Winnipeg’s biggest kitchen party, singalongs, concerts and open dance classes – is taking place at The Forks October 2-6. Head to The Forks for new experiences each night as part of Downtown Culture Days.

Sunday, Oct 2- Family Dance Party, WSO, & WFG Shorts

  • 1:00PM-3:00PM: Mama Cutsworth’s Family Dance Party- from the smallest jigger to the eldest macarena-er this family dance party is for everyone! Singalongs, games and fun dance moves to get all generations grooving together.

  • 1:45PM-2:15PM: Little Monsters Dance joins Mama Cutsworth’s Family Dance Party for a free open dance class- learn some new moves and trip the light fantastic.

  • 5:00PM-5:30PM: Pop up concert from the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet.

  • 6:00PM-7:00PM: Film shorts shot in Winnipeg, compiled by Winnipeg Film Group, displayed on the second floor of The Market in the EQ3 Lounge.

With the exception of the film shorts, all our Downtown Culture Days at The Forks entertainment will be taking place outside on the lower patio.

*In case of rain, we will be moving inside The Market to the South Aisle (near Danny's All Day Breakfast)

Downtown Culture Days at The Forks

Monday, Oct 3 A Night at the Opera 5:30PM-7:00PM

Manitoba Underground Opera will find the diva in you with hands-on activities interspersed with performances by top Winnipeg vocalists. Two of Winnipeg’s hottest drag performers will take to the stage to perform alongside the opera performers.

You’ll be delighted by familiar opera favourites and inspiring musical theatre including pieces from Carmen, Rigoletto, Cosi fan Tutte, and musical theatre standards like Giants in the Sky and Don’t Rain on My Parade.

PLUS - film shorts shot in Winnipeg, compiled by Winnipeg Film Group, on display on the second floor of The Market in the EQ3 Lounge from 6:00PM-7:00PM.

Tuesday, Oct 4 Winnipeg's biggest kitchen party 5:30PM-7:00PM

Bring your acoustic instruments down to The Forks. Play along with our house band - top songs from Manitoba’s song book. Lyrics and charts (and shakers!) will be provided! Guest musicians Fontine, Mattmac, and Sierra Noble will also take the mic, leading their favourite local tunes. It’s a concert of top Winnipeg musicians- and you are in it! All are welcome.

And while you're there, enjoy Painting en Plein Air with James Culleton! The multimedia artist will join the show with live music drawings - and an opportunity for you to get creative as well.

Saturday, October 8 afternoon concert beginning at 3:00PM

  • 3:00PM-3:15PM - Walking Wolf Dancers and Singers, led by Ray Coco Stevenson will perform traditional Aboriginal dances, sharing with audiences the stories and meanings behind them. The group’s performances include hoop dancers, jingle dancers, friendship dancers, drummers and chanters to captivate the audience.
  • 3:15PM-4:00PM - Indian City - Canadian Folk Pop.

Lauren will guide you through the many transformative interactions between beer and cheese, and leave you re-thinking the way you plan your own dinners at home!

With over a decade of experience in the beer industry, from bar service to brewing, Lauren has had a particular affinity for food pairing over the years. She is currently writing her first homebrew and food pairing cookbook, set to be published in 2024 by Figure 1 Publishing.
