5th Annual MMIWG2S+ Walk for Justice
May 5 marks National Red Dress Day—a day of action to raise awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ Peoples.
As a community, we will gather together in a good way to share stories and hear directly from the Families and Survivors. The gathering will be followed by a prayer walk from Oodena Celebration Circle to Memorial Provincial Park. This is an all-inclusive, family-friendly event.

Spring Workshop Series | Poncho Workshop with Pretty Windy Designs
As part of this spring's Monday Workshops at The Forks, the Ode'imin Collective is hosting a poncho-making workshop led by Pretty Windy Designs!
Participants will have the opportunity to create their own poncho under the guidance of Wendy Sinclair, founder of Pretty Windy Designs. Since 2016, Wendy has been blending fashion design with cultural storytelling, drawing from her roots in Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, Manitoba.

Spring Workshop Series | Mushroom Log Inoculation
Join mushroom cultivation expert Tom Nagy of River City Mushrooms for a hands-on introduction to growing gourmet and medicinal mushrooms on hardwood logs. In this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to select and harvest wood, inoculate logs, store and incubate them, and manage healthy, consistent harvests.
Participants will prepare their own 3’ willow log inoculated with nameko mushrooms to take home and grow outdoors. All materials and equipment are provided, along with presentation materials and additional resources. Just bring your curiosity and get ready to grow!

Red Dress Day
The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs First Nations Family Advocate Office invites families, survivors, leadership, and community members to gather in honour of the victims and survivors of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls, and Two-Spirit People (MMIWG2S+). Following a march from the Legislative grounds, the gathering will take place at the Forks Oodena Circle. Families, survivors, and leadership will be invited to share their voices, stories, and calls for justice. Join us in a moment of remembrance, strength, and unity as we honour the lives taken, support the survivors, and stand together for change.

Bear Witness Day Parade
The Bear Witness Day Parade is a special event designed to raise awareness about the rights of First Nations children and youth, and to stand in solidarity for equity and inclusion. The walk aims to honour Jordan River Anderson, a young boy from Norway House First Nation, whose legacy has helped to shed light on the challenges faced by First Nations children and youth in accessing necessary public services and needed supports. These supports are based on substantive equality, the best interest of children, culturally relevant service provision and account for distinct community circumstances. By participating in this event, students will be joining others in advocating for the future where all children can learn, grow and thrive without facing discrimination or barriers.

Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS) International Awareness Day
Please join us on May 10th in raising awareness for the underfunded and misunderstood debilitating disease, Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) or myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS). It's a complex chronic disease that presents with symptoms in multiple body systems and ME is a neurological disease according to the World Health Organization.
21,000 Manitobans suffer the debilitating effects of ME/CFS yet, up to 90% of these individuals go undiagnosed. The Manitoba ME/CFS Support Group is a local non-profit group which provides peer support and information to Manitobans living with ME/CFS. Visit us in the Pop-up kiosk in The Forks Market to learn more.

On May 11, at The Forks, join the Ukrainian community dedicated to Vyshyvanka Day, which is celebrated annually and is a significant holiday for Ukrainians.
Paint the sidewalk next to Inn at The Forks with chalk in the style of Ukrainian Vyshyvanka, and enjoy music, sweets, and souvenirs.

Full Moon Ceremony
The Full Moon Ceremony is a collaboration between Sunshine House, Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak Inc MMIWG Liaison Unit (MKO), The Link, Manitoba Moon Voices (MMVI), Women’s Health Clinic (WHC), Inaadiziwin, Native Clan Organization, Inc. (NCO), Manitoba League of Persons with Disabilities and Medicine Bear, Ka Ni Kanichihk. This Ceremony is open to the community at large; all genders and cultures are invited to join together for teachings about feminine energy’s relationship with Grandmother Moon. Anyone who identifies with feminine energy is invited to participate in the Ceremony. Those who identify with masculine energy are invited to attend, but will observe. If you can, we ask relatives to bring your own chair, rattles and/or drums, as well as a water container to fill and take home after the Ceremony (if you wish).

Join us for a hands-on night of something creative and different where you will Print with Jer. All materials are provided for this step-by-step block printing workshop in the Pop-Up Kiosk at The Forks Market, where you’ll learn how to carve and ink a rubber block to create a unique print featuring your birth flower. Perfect for beginners and experienced creatives! This 2-hour workshop is designed for beginners and seasoned creators alike.
Jer will guide you through the entire process—from transferring your flower design onto the block to carving techniques and inking for a crisp, beautiful print. You’ll leave with your own custom-printed piece and the skills to keep creating at home! Come as you are, enjoy the process, and explore the art of block printing in a relaxed and creative space.

The Winnipeg Frontrunners Pride Run is a fun, non-competitive running or walking event open to everyone - all ages and abilities welcome! The run starts and ends at the Forks festival site in the heart of Winnipeg. We have 3km and 6km routes. The theme for our Pride Run is Pride Moves. We welcome runners and walkers of all experience levels. Just bring your most colourful running or walking gear and your positive, Pride-filled energy!
The Start/Finish area is located at The Forks festival site just east of Orientation Circle at Parks Canada.

Saturday Night Pride ain't just any party. It's a space for Queer and Trans joy where we celebrate love, diversity, and all things fabulous on the biggest weekend of Winnipeg’s 2SLGBTQ+ calendar. Show your pride and join us for one heck of a party that'll have you feeling like a superstar.
Headlining the event is the icon, legand and superstar Jaylene Tyme from Canada's Drag Race Season 5. Jaylene is a Two-Spirt, sober Indigenous trans woman and seasoned drag artist, she not only entertains but also uplifts her community though healing and empowerment. Joining her is CAKE, Rainbow Resource Centre's Drag-Artist-in-Residence. And let's not forget our local stars, Kymera and Jamie Allwood who are ready to slay the stage.
Pumping up the jam is DJ Princess Die spinning tunes that will have you dancing all night long!
