Market Eats: Vegan options in The Forks Market

Posted on Aug 17, 2018 by The Forks Market

Hey vegan friends!

The food in The Market is seriously incredible, and we want you to be able to enjoy it just as much. So, we perused all the vendors menus for the best vegan options. We found a bunch, taste tested them (for science 😉) and can assure you that they're as delicious as they look.

Here's what we found:

  • The Forks Falafel

When you order this one, be sure to ask for the vegan version as the multigrain bun is vegan, but the regular bun is not. This was definitely one of our favourites from the day. The falafel is 👌.

Here's where the salad options really out-do themselves. Their salads really go a step above the usual. Every salad except their caesar salad can be made into a vegan option.

Braised Tofu Heroshima

All you have to do is ask for this one without mayo, and it's a main dish that will fill you up and leave you wanting more even though you're super full. The tofu is prepared just right and the veggies add the right amount of freshness. Other options are...

  • Tofu Lettuce Wrap Spring Rolls

Bindy's Caribbean Delights

Okay, here's your time to shine. A majority of their menu is vegan and seriously tasty. We had the channa (chickpea) roti, and it was enough food for two meals, but we finished it in one sitting because it was that good. Your options are...

  • Roti – Aloo (potato), vegetable, or channa (chickpea)
  • Dhalpourie
  • Buss Up Shut aka Paratha
  • Samosas
  • Trinidad Doubles
  • Aloo Pie
  • Vegetable Curry
  • Garden Salad
  • Red Bean & Rice
  • Pineapple Chow

This is another heavy-hitter for the vegan options. Order a bunch of the smaller items, and you've got yourself a full meal with enough to share if you'd like.

  • Miso Soup
  • Edamame
  • Goma Ae
  • Vegetable Tempura
  • Cucumber Roll
  • Avocado Roll

Neon Cone

Dessert time! Last summer, Neon Cone brought in a master ice cream and gelato maker to teach them how to make it the right way, so you know it's good. Choose from raspberry, mango, and lemon (or get a multiple scoops and pick a bunch) and you've got a great end to a vegan food tour in The Market.

Many of the other food vendors in The Market have amazing fries, potato wedges and salads that would also make great options.
