Mother's Day gift guide: It's last-minute but it's not too late!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner *cough*this Sunday*cough* and we know as much as you love all the moms in your life, it can sometimes be tricky to find just the right gift.

If you’re still on the hunt for an a-mom-zing prezzie (we promise, that’s the first and last mom pun), we’ve curated a few options that can be found in The Forks Market, categorized by what your mom likes — or needs — the most!

Flowers and chocolates are great, but here’s a few other ideas that just might be the perfect fit.

For the mom-to-be or new mom

What could be more special than a first Mother’s Day? There are lots of fun ways to mark the occasion, but we love the idea of filling a durable tote or diaper bag with a bunch of new-mom goodies, like these adorable scrunchies from local company Maison Corazon ($12) that will keep mom’s hair out of the way as she feeds the baby or, you know, is bringing a new life into the world. Or these delicate little necklaces ($21.99) by Sweet Celebrations that will let her know she’s already great at being a mom, even if she’s new to the job.

For the mom who needs some R&R

I think we all know a mom who could use a restful and relaxing evening to herself. Treat your mom to the perfect spa-like bubble bath scenario with a bath bomb from Bloom Bath & Spa ($6), slide in some sweet treats from Jenna Rae Cakes (how wonderful are these flower macarons?), and get things smelling great with a candle from Coal and Canary ($30), who just released a brand new collection called Vacay All Day (the Tulum and Palm Springs scents are our faves — just wait until you get a whiff!)

For the active mom

If your mom is an outdoorsy lady and loves to keep active, may we suggest a very adorable, very Winnipeggy reusable water bottle ($30) from our kiosk in the market? Then, if it’s a nice day, head on over to our friends at Bee2Gether and rent a tandem bike for a beautiful cycle around the site.

For the foodie mom

It’s no secret that our food hall is home to some incredibly tasty bites, so if your mom is into gastronomical adventures, bring her to The Forks for a meal! If you’d rather bring the meal to her, Tall Grass’s Grassroots Prairie Kitchen has all the fixings for a delectable cheese and pickle board, and the food choices. We loved the look and tasting notes for Genevieve ($33), a sparkling wine from South Africa with notes of lime, white peach and melon. Yum!

For the artsy mom

The Forks Market is filled to the brim with beautiful works by lots of different local makers. Check out Dcontruct’s collection of earrings; they come in all kinds of funky shapes, colours and materials, and starting at around $30, they won’t break the bank. The Forks Trading Company always stocks ceramics by various artists, and there are a few stunning mugs in store right now that any artsy mom would love to sip from. If writing and drawing is more her forte, head to McNally Robinson Booksellers and pick out a unique journal to house all her thoughts and sketches.

Mom’s Choice

Of course, if you want your mom to pick out the gift of her choice, bring her to The Forks Market this weekend! On Friday and Saturday, the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Drinksense team will be hosting a pop-up event where they will be giving away complimentary mocktails and flowers, and on Saturday and Sunday, Luckygirl will be hosting a Mother’s Day pop-up featuring 24 vendors spread out amongst the second-floor balconies. Even if you don’t end up buying anything, it’s a great way to just spend the day together!
