Don’t put those skates, toques, mitts and parkas into storage just yet! With the opening of the Winter Whiteout Dome, we’re welcoming winter to The Forks -- permanently.
Winnipeggers showed us (literally, in the form over over 203,000 Instagram posts) that we love winter - we saw a record turnout of folks enjoying winter activities at The Forks this year. And now with our Winnipeg Jets in the playoffs, we thought it would just make sense to keep that momentum going.
The Winter Whiteout Dome will be open 365 days a year, offering Winnipeggers the winter activities they love, and our tourist visitors an authentic Winnipeg winter experience, no matter the time of year.
Located in Festival Field, the refrigerated Winter Whiteout Dome will be home to everyone’s favourite parts of winter )without the windchill): skating on an NHL regulation-sized rink as well as 1.2kms of looping trails, a toboggan run, real snow flurries at 30-minute intervals, and, of course, what is winter fun without hot chocolate and mini donuts?
In keeping with The Forks’ Target Zero sustainability initiatives, the Winter Whiteout Dome will be geothermally cooled year-round to a relatively comfortable, -11C, for optimal ice and snow conditions.
To celebrate the opening of the Winter Whiteout Dome on Easter, it will be the home to 100 white rabbits as well as a challenging white Easter egg hunt amongst the white snow for the kids (and kids at heart).

Did we fool you?! Happy April Fools. ;)
