FNP Parking is inviting people with outstanding parking tickets to have them forgiven in exchange for “adopting” a metre of the Nestaweya River Trail in support of The Forks Foundation. In conjunction with the Trail Together campaign, people can pay a discounted rate to adopt a metre of the trail instead of paying their parking ticket this holiday season.
“In the spirit of holiday giving, we’re offering people with an outstanding parking ticket a bit of a break, while asking them to support a good cause,” says Sara Stasiuk, Chief Executive Officer, The Forks North Portage.
Outstanding FNP Parking tickets cost $84 compared to the $50 adopt-a-metre price. This is a savings of $34 for anyone who may have received an FNP Parking violation notice on their windshield over the past year.
This initiative will run throughout December, and those with parking tickets can visit www.fnpparking.com to learn more and to join the growing list of adopters of the Trail Together campaign.
The Trail Together campaign launched in early November and invites the community to help build the Nestaweya River Trail, metre by metre.
The Nestaweya River Trail is no small feat to build. Whether it’s a 75-day-long river trail season with 10 km of skating and walking trails or nine days on a short little trail, it takes the same amount of resources for monitoring, flooding, testing, and building ice. The Forks receives no operational funding from any level of government, and amenities like this rely on community.
During the longer river trail seasons, more than 200,000 people use the Nestaweya River Trail, and it takes a team of more than a dozen to maintain it.

The Forks Foundation is the affiliated charity of The Forks North Portage, established in 2006. Over the years The Forks Foundation has received major gifts from caring Winnipeggers to help build the skatepark at The Forks and commission public art that is seen around the site. This campaign marks the first time The Forks Foundation has undertaken a public fundraising effort.
