Posted on Apr 08, 2025 by The Forks Market

Join us at The Forks from Monday, April 21 to Saturday, April 26 for a full week of Earth Week activities focused on sustainability and the environment!

From plant-based menu specials to creative workshops, compost giveaways, and Target Zero Eco Tours, there’s something for everyone during this year’s celebration. Each day offers new opportunities to learn, create, and connect.

From Monday to Wednesday, Helga Jakobson, Sustainability Coordinator at The Forks, will lead free, hands-on activities including an interactive discussion in the Public Orchard, a community chalk mural on Earth Day under the canopy, and a birdhouse-making workshop in the Prairie Garden.

Earth lovers are also invited to grab their tickets for two special events hosted by local plant professionals. On Thursday, botanist Laura Reeves will lead Introduction to Gardening with Native Plants, a discussion on the beauty and benefits of gardening with plant species that are native to Manitoba. On Friday, Trina Semenchuk will host Basics of Indoor Growing, a hands-on workshop on growing plants at home.

Saturday caps off with an Earth Week Wind Up - a day full of activities, including a compost giveaway, a special e-waste drop-off, and the Sustainability Hub featuring local climate-focused organizations.

Plus, all week long, participating food tenants in The Forks Market will be offering limited-time plant-based menu items created especially for Earth Week. Stay tuned for the full lineup of dishes!

Whether you're gardening, chalking the plaza, or recycling old electronics, Earth Week at The Forks is a reminder that small choices add up to big impact. Join us for a week of community, creativity, and climate-conscious fun—see you there!
