As summer kicks off, The Forks is encouraging people to get outside and get active with table tennis, basketball, and free workouts – all part of the ongoing Play at The Forks initiative.
New this summer is Workout Wednesdays. Sport Manitoba will lead weekly workouts in CN Field on Wednesdays from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. starting July 10 until the end of August. Interested? Register here! Additionally, the Manitoba Table Tennis Association is back with table tennis demonstrations and workshops from 5 – 7 p.m. every Thursday until the end of August.
“We love seeing people engaging with each other and using the site in active and exciting ways, and the Play at The Forks initiative encourages just that,” says Sara Stasiuk, Chief Executive Officer, The Forks North Portage. “Plus, you may just find me on the court shooting from downtown.”
Play at The Forks launched last summer and saw great success as people enjoyed free activations set up around the CN Stage and Field. Table tennis was so well loved, it moved inside The Forks Market for winter and has seen daily use ever since.
This year’s Play at The Forks elements will be available all summer, and are free and open to the public for pick-up games.
Note: if the CN Stage and Field is booked for a large event, Play elements will be stored and returned to the area once the event is complete.
