'Tis the season, Winnipeggers! Winter is back, and The Common is rolling out a new roster of cozy wines to keep you warm from the inside out.
Leaning into deeper whites and full-bodied reds, resident wine consultant Ben Sigurdson brings interesting blends from all across Europe.
On the white side, expect layered blends from Italy, Greece, and Austria. Fun fact: all of the whites are unoaked, allowing their rich, ripe fruit flavours to shine through.
For red wine lovers, the new list includes bold, full-bodied picks from Spain, southern France, and Italy’s Abruzzo region. You’ll also find two standout Pinot Noirs: one from Chile’s cool-climate Leyda Valley and another from B.C.’s Okanagan Valley.

Here’s what Ben has to say about the new lineup:
If I was going to make a flight for myself of my favourite wines, today I'd probably pick the Malinga 2023 Heissweiss aromatic white blend from the Kamptal region of Austria, the Domaine Cheyesson 2024 L'Exception, an unoaked Chardonnay from France's Beaujolais region, and the Jim Barry 2021 Cover Drive Cabernet Sauvignon, a grippy, dense red from Australia's Coonawarra region that punches well above its price point.
