Winter is coming. Want to help shape it?
Warming Huts: An Arts + Architecture Competition on Ice is back for its 2026 season! And, as tradition, The Forks is once again inviting one lucky community member to join the jury!
Every year, Warming Huts bring joy (and warmth) to thousands of visitors. It transforms the Nestaweya River Trail into a beautiful open-air gallery. From bold architectural statements to playful designs, this annual showcase has become an essential part of what makes winter at The Forks so special.
Now, we want you to have the chance to decide which designs take to the ice. No experience? No problem. We’re really just looking for someone with a love for Winnipeg winters, an eye for creativity, and plenty of enthusiasm.
How Does It Work?
- Submit a Video: Record a short clip (under 60 seconds) telling us who you are and why you’d make a great juror.
- Join The Jury: If selected, spend a day in October with architects, artists, designers, and students reviewing submissions. The process is anonymous, so all ideas are judged fairly and purely on creativity.
- Select the Winners: Together, you’ll choose the huts that will inspire and delight Winnipeg this winter.
What Are The Requirements?
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must live in Winnipeg
- Must be available on October 10th, 2025
Winnipeg winters are what we make of them, so why not get your say? Applications for the jury close September 28th, 2025.
