Thaw & Sip: New Wine List Drops at The Common

Posted on Feb 27, 2026 by The Forks Market

Blowing snow aside, we’re optimistic that spring is on the horizon! A fresh pour is the perfect way to shake off the winter blues.

To help bridge the seasons (and the moods that come with them), The Common is rolling out a fresh new wine list. This time around, resident wine consultant, Ben Sigurdson, is leaning into versatility. Think, pours with bright fruit, balanced structure, and a lighter touch of oak.

“One of the comments I got from many of the staff at The Common is that there's a contingent of wine lovers looking for a sweet red. We managed to track down a medium-sweet wine from the Alazani Valley in Georgia that fits the bill and will surprise those who typically avoid sweeter reds,” says Ben.

Our wine list isn’t just Ben’s vision, it’s shaped by the feedback we hear every day from staff and visitors alike. From the approachable favourites to more adventurous sips, each bottle is chosen with our community’s tastes in mind.

Let’s take a look at the best picks!

Ben’s Favourites

“The Cave Spring Dolomite Brut is a great sparkling wine from Beamsville Bench in Ontario's Niagara region made the classic champagne style and the Peri Peri 2024 Nini Grillo is a tasty white from Sicily in Italy that brings great red apple and pear flavours with this wild herbal and almost savoury/salty component”

Hailey’s Favourite

“My pick is the 2024 Her Shiraz because this is a South African Shiraz that is entirely sourced,  made, produced, and distributed by South African women. It has a really unique smokiness and a tannin to it and it would pair nicely something from Simon Steaks or a burger from NuBurger.”

Cam’s Favourite

“My favourite wine on the new list is also the Peri Peri Grillo from Sicily Italy. It’s a full-bodied white wine with a nice golden color and a touch more skin contact than the lighter white wines on the list. I haven't had too many other wines like it. It would pair really well with Fish and Chips from Fergies.”
