Confluence at the Confluence

Posted on Oct 24, 2024 by The Forks Market

Join ROSEMARY Gallery for a special musical performance by artist Bret Parenteau (B.P.)- one of the featured artists exhibited in Confluence - at the edge of the Assiniboine River here at The Forks, on Friday, October 25, from 5PM - 6PM.

During their performance, Reflection by Red River, B.P. will present new sound work, offering a soundscape, set against the backdrop of the rivers that have shaped our city and stories, encouraging us to truly listen to the land and to each other.

At the end of September, ROSEMARY Gallery, co-directed by Jaimie Isaac and Suzanne Morrissette, unveiled Confluence, a visual art exhibit that delves into powerful themes of environmental challenges, poverty, and racial violence, connected to the historical and ongoing significance of Winnipeg’s rivers.

The Forks, a site defined by its geographical and cultural connection to the confluence of the Red and Assiniboine rivers, is intrinsically tied to this exhibit, and is a fitting venue for this extension of Confluence. For thousands of years, this land has been a meeting place and holds a deep meaning for so many. As The Forks, we are proud to support initiatives like Confluence, which spark meaningful dialogue and invite all of us to reflect on the intersection of past, present, and future.

Confluence is ROSEMARY Gallery's inaugural exhibition, located at 226 Main Street in Winnipeg, open until November 27, 2024. Click here to learn more about ROSEMARY Gallery and their exhibit.
