We got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine. We got some spring programming you won’t wanna miss, oh, oh-oh… 

At The Forks, we’re going into spring with fresh, fun, and free programming designed to get you outside and into something new. After a long winter, we’re inviting you to roll up your sleeves, get moving, and overall make the most of longer, sunnier days. 

Here’s a guide to all things spring at The Forks:

Seed Starting Saturday 

April 11 | 11:00 AM & 2:00 PM | 📍The Forks Patio 

Get your hands a little dirty and learn how to start seeds with Sustainability Coordinator, Helga Jakobson! Using compostable pots, nutrient-rich compost from The Forks compost facility, and seeds gathered from the Prairie Gardens, Helga will guide you through planting native species from start to finish. You’ll not only leave with a soon-to-be plant but also a small piece of The Forks.

Family Dance & Art Party

April 12 | 11:00 AM | 📍The Canopy

Dance, create, and celebrate the start of spring! Join Mama Cutsworth for some great tunes and dance games for people of all ages. Plus! Decorate the dance floor with chalk art alongside some local street artists.

Spring Yoga with Adrienne Shum 

April 15 & May 20 | 5:30 PM & 6:45 PM | 📍Second Floor Event Space 

Ease into spring with yoga sessions led by instructor Adrienne Shum. Offering both slow flow and restorative practices, each 45-minute class is designed to support the body and calm the mind through intentional movement and breath. No experience needed, just bring a mat, some water, and something comfortable to move in.

Earth Day at The Forks 

April 22 | 📍Multiple Locations 

Join us for a packed day of Earth Day events! Focusing on the theme of Repair, The Forks will be bringing together hands-on activities, workshops, and demonstrations to help give items a second life and rethink what we throw away.

Pruning in the Orchard 

April 25 | 2:00 PM | 📍The Orchard 

Come out for a pruning demonstration where you’ll learn practical tips and techniques to help fruiting trees stay healthy and thrive. Sustainability Coordinator, Helga Jakobson, will walk you through the methods we use at The Forks, from shaping young growth to maintaining mature fruiting trees.

Lectures & Lagers 

April 30 & May 28 | 6:00 PM | 📍The South Aisle

Raise a glass and feed your curiosity at Lectures & Lagers! This event pairs engaging talks from local experts with a carefully curated selection of beers from The Common. Donations to The Forks Foundation will be accepted at each event.

Compost Week Celebration 

May 7 | 10:00 AM, 1:00 PM, and 5:00 PM | 📍The Forks Market

BYOB (Bring Your Own Bucket)! Celebrate Compost Week with us and get a behind-the-scenes look at The Forks composting facility with free guided tours. At the end of the tour, visitors are welcome to fill their own bag or bucket with nutrient-rich compost to give their garden a boost! Tours include an uphill walk, so come dressed for the weather (it might get a little mucky).

There will also be an additional free compost giveaway under the canopy starting at 10 AM, first-come, first-served, while supplies last.

Birding at The Forks 

May 9 | 9:30 AM | 📍The Canopy 

Join Bird Friendly Winnipeg and Justin Rasmussen from the University of Manitoba's Indigenous Birding Club for a guided birding walk at The Forks in celebration of World Migratory Bird Day! Explore the site with expert eyes, learn to identify local and migratory birds, and hear tips on preventing window collisions to protect our feathered friends, all in the heart of peak spring migration season.

Naturalized Yards 

May 23 | 📍The Forks Patio  

Learn how to turn your yard into a thriving habitat! This info session will walk you through tips, tricks, and best practices for creating a yard that supports local wildlife.
