Help shape winter at The Forks!
Warming Huts: An Arts + Architecture Competition on Ice is back for its 2027 season, and The Forks is once again inviting one community member to join the jury.
Every winter, the Nestaweya River Trail transforms into an outdoor gallery of imaginative art from around the world. From playful installations to striking designs, the Warming Huts have become a beloved winter tradition that brings creativity, conversation, and a little extra warmth to the trail.
As the public juror, you'll join architects, artists, and designers in reviewing submissions and deciding the lucky winners. No design degree required. No architecture background needed. We're simply looking for someone who loves Winnipeg winters, has an eye for creativity, and plenty of enthusiasm.
How Does It Work?
- Submit a Video: Record a short clip (under 60 seconds) telling us who you are and why you’d make a great juror.
- Join The Jury: If selected, spend a day in October with architects, artists, designers, and students reviewing submissions. The process is anonymous, so all ideas are judged fairly and purely on creativity.
- Select the Winners: Together, you’ll choose the huts that will inspire and delight Winnipeg this winter.
What Are The Requirements?
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Must live in Winnipeg
- Must be available on October 9, 2026
